Plans for 2019

Since creating the raw list of 100+ things I want to do, learn, achieve and experience in the coming years, it became very clear that I’ll have to prioritize.

For 2019 I plan to:

  • Training
    • ride >250km in one day
    • participate in a criterium cycling race
    • 100 kettlebell swings in a row
    • run 5km in <20 min
  • Learning
    • follow 10 yoga lessons
    • get a new grade in aikido
    • learn to visualize (overcome aphantasia)
    • follow a Wim Hof course
    • read https://zenhabits.net/gratify/ every day for 30 days
  • Experiences
    • BMX initiation
    • ride a mountainbike in the mountains
    • watch dolphins
    • go floating
    • play squash
    • play tennis
    • drive a rally car
  • Health
    • 30 out of 36 days at 9pm to bed
    • 60 days vegetarian
    • 30 days no sugar
    • drink only water and tea for a year
    • 30 days of Wim Hof training
    • 30 days 3 meals a day (no snacks)
  • Productions
    • contribute to this website
    • make all my notes from books and blog posts public
    • make all my ideas public
    • 30 days of creation (no reading, TV, news, old notes, … except for work)
    • design a t-shirt
  • Travel
    • do a multi-day hike in the mountains
  • Financial
    • invest in an index fund (10000€)
  • Clean up
    • clean up all (private) todo’s on all apps, make the ones that I won’t do public
    • gift/throw away 100 personal items
  • Social
    • host a boardgame event

Next to these bucket list goals I want to maintain a basic fitness level and drop some weight in order to prepare for the 2020 and beyond goals. Even more importantly I want to keep my family and work happy which limits how much I can do in order to reach my goals.

Game plan

Some things I want to focus on during the whole year which will help me achieve some of the above and next year(s) goals:

  • cycling

  • pull ups and push ups
  • kettlebell swings until I can do 100 in a row
  • dropping weight to get consistently below 80 kg
  • sleep sufficiently
  • aikido
  • drink only water and tea for a year
  • follow 10 yoga lessons

  • make all my ideas public
  • clean up all (private) todo’s on all apps, make the ones that I won’t do public

That’s it for the year, I’ll keep you up to date on my progress and as this is the first year I’m doing this I assume that I’ll have to make plenty of adjustments along the way.
